Thanks to Ruth Ann Nordin for tagging me for First Day, First Paragraph.
Here are the rules:Publish your own post on the first day of the month.
- Use the graphic above.
- Thank and link back to the person who tagged you.
- Explain the rules like I’m doing now.
- Post the first paragraph of a story you’ve written, are writing, or plan to write someday.
- Ask your readers for feedback.
- Finally, tag someone to do the post next month (for example, if you do the tag on the first of January, the person you tag has to do it on the first of February), and comment on one of their posts to let them know the good news.
For my first paragraph, I chose a short story that’s free to download. I chose this instead of one of my novels or novellas because this one has always been near and dear to my heart. I love the Beauty and the Beast type stories, and this one has a special twist.
Here’s the paragraph:
From the shadows he watched her. She was exquisite…perfect. He knew he would only be able to watch her from afar. She was beautiful, and he was a beast. So he would watch her, admire her, but he would never speak to her or even let himself be seen by her. Her delicate senses didn’t deserve to look upon such ugliness as his.
What do y’all think?
So, I’m going to tag L. S. Engler for March 1!
I love this story. 🙂
And thank you for making such a lovely cover! This is one of my favorites!
I never heard of First Day, First Paragraph before, but it sounds like fun.
And great first paragraph choice on your part. I really enjoyed The Beast in the Mirror!
I got tagged, or I would never have heard of it. Anyone can start one and tag someone. 🙂
I’m glad you enjoyed the story. It’s one of my favorites and one of the easiest stories I’ve ever written. It just flowed out of me for some reason. (I wish they would all do that!)
LOL! I hear you, Lauralynn.
And thanks for the info about the meme. 🙂
I can’t wait to do this! Thanks again for the tag, Lauralynn. Now I’ve got a month to try to decide which paragraph to use, but I’m not sure that’ll be enough time, lol.
Also, I went to download the story, but I guess I already have, whoops! My kindle broke a while back, and I need to get a new one, and this just reminds me that I need to do that soon, so I can read the rest. I’m really intrigued by the set-up here, wondering the details of their situation, and who doesn’t love a good fairy tale retelling? I know I do.
I”m sure you’ll come up with a good first paragraph. 🙂
Beauty and the Beast is my very favorite tale. I can’t wait to see the new movie!
Loved that short story.
Thanks, Emma!
This was such a good story! I love the twist. 😀
Thanks, Ruth! The twist WAS definitely different. LOL
