So…I’ve been complaining that there’s not enough hours in the day. And yet, I signed up for a Culinary Herbalist class. *sigh* But, I really need to take steps to improve my health, and that’s what this is about. It talks about “food as medicine”. There are recipes and suggestions on what foods and herbs are medicinal. I’ve watched the first video and have watched half of the second one. I just hope I can do this because I’m really bad at eating fruits and vegetables. One thing it mentioned is that in N. America, we are used to mostly three flavors. Sweet, sour, and salty. Other cultures embrace other flavors, such as bitter and pungent. I hope I can enlightened my palate. LOL
So, here’s all the things I have to do in the next few weeks:
1. Write my ROW80 inspirational post (tonight!) so Kait’s eye won’t twitch
2. Do one lesson per day on Culinary Herbalism
3. Do editing on three books for clients
4. Work in some exercise
5. Start cooking with recipes from my lessons
6. Study my teacher’s manual for Vacation Bible School & cut out visual aids for each student
7. Teach VBS the week of June 13-7
8. Finally, find some little bits of time to write
These things wouldn’t be so daunting if I didn’t have to work at my day job 40+ hours per week. And after I got back to work from vacation today, I found out my assistant is leaving. The best assistant I’ve ever had. π¦
I will persevere!
Oh, no! I’m sorry to hear about your assistant. When you have to train someone new it takes so much time and energy. I do hope you find a good replacement. And best of luck on all you’re juggling. You’ve got a lot going on.
I eat fruit occasionally but I LOVE veggies (more so than meat). I was one of those weird kids whose parents never had to say “eat your vegetables.” By the same token, I wouldn’t touch a steak, LOL!
I’m really going to miss her. She’s so good at taking initiative and figuring out stuff on her own. I didn’t worry about the job while I was on vacation.
I WISH I liked veggies. I love onions, but you can only eat so many of those. LOL
WOW! Busy, busy, BUSY!!! Make sure you carve a few minutes of take care of yourself time as well…for sanity sake. A bubble bath, a walk around the block, anything that feels nurturing. You are awesome! π
Thanks, Juli! I’m going to take some time Saturday to go to lunch with a couple of friends and then shop at the Bare Minerals store where there will be an awesome sale going on. π
#1 made me laugh. Then I read the rest of your list and fainted. You’re right. There is not enough time in the day. I hope you manage to get it done. If you need to push back the date on my book, let me know. The one I really need done is The Marriage Agreement which should be heading your way next Sunday. That one is with my publisher and I have to have it to her by July 15. The Earl’s Wallflower Bride’s date is flexible.
I STILL didn’t get that post done, but I hope I get it done tonight. Otherwise, both of her eyes will be twitching. And I wouldn’t blame her. I’m WAY late getting this done.
I don’t need you to push the dates back. I’ll get them done in time as long as nothing drastic happens. I’ll always put clients before my writing. It’s the best business decision. π What I WISH would happen would be to get enough editing clients so I could quit my day job. Although, now that I’ve lost my assistant, they wouldn’t have anyone to replace me. She was supposed to be my replacement when I retired. She was awesome. Unfortunately, one of her former bosses also thought she was awesome, so he recommended her to a company who could pay her much more than we could. π¦
The VBS stuff is stressing me out more than anything else right now.
Hang in there!
Thanks, Cate! It’s good to see you around again!
A class on culinary herbs sounds really interesting. I never thought about the idea of embracing different flavors, but we Americans do tend to think of bitter as a bad thing, don’t we? Hmm…
So sorry to hear about your assistant leaving. I know how hard it can be to find someone who’s a good fit and a reliable hard worker. And just pleasant to work with, you know? Good luck finding a replacement!
I’m going to have to make a lot of changes to incorporate some of this stuff, but the teacher advised doing it slowly. Only make a few changes at a time. There’s a lot of stuff I didn’t know like how garbanzo beans are good for diabetics, and carrot juice is a remedy for heartburn. I’m learning a bunch of stuff.
Yeah, I’m really bummed about my assistant. She’s only been there since January, and I’ve really been impressed with her. But I’m also happy that she was able to get a better job, for her sake.
