This has been a great writing week. Although I only wrote three days, I still managed to churn out 5,837 words! Yesterday, I wrote almost 2,400. Hubby was gone, so the TV in the living room was off and I was at my desk in my office, the sun shining through the windows beside me. Coffee was on the desk beside my computer. A couple of pieces of sugar-free chocolate. The conditions couldn’t have been better! ๐
I really think it makes a big difference WHERE you write. If you have your own writing place, I think your mind says, “Okay, this is where I’m supposed to write”. I’m so glad I was able to fix up my son’s old bedroom and make it into an office.
Nice on the writing!
I think you’re right about having a specific place designated for writing. It helps you get motivated.
Thanks, Ruth! I love my office. Even if I have to share it with my cats.
It would be wonderful to have my own office! I have to do pretty much everything at my desk in my bedroom; it isn’t my ‘writing space’ so much as my ‘living space plus writing and stuff’.
It’s great that you’ve gotten so much writing done! I’m looking forward to getting my computers stable enough to go back to my writing, too.
The downside of having my own office is that it means I only have the space because my sons are grown and out of the house. I miss those boys! Seriously, though, it’s nice to have that room to work in.
I hope you get your computer problems straightened out soon!
Thank you! While I can blog and be social from my phone, writing more than a few lines at a time on it is simply too unwieldy; I need my computer for that. Besides, there is still no Scrivener app for my phone, though they say they’re working on an iPhone app. I hope they don’t forget us Android users!
I have to decrap (John Holton’s term) my office but when I can write in there…oh, yeah, it is good stuff. Way to go on the wordage this week.
Wishing you a fabulous week Lauralynn!
I have to decrap my office every day…because that’s where the litter box is. LOL.
Thanks, Raelyn!
I tend to write these days propped up against cushions on my bed covers, with the laptop resting on a pillow in front of me. I like the idea of having my own writing nook, but space in my house is an issue.
Space used to be an issue with me, but with the boys gone, we have extra room. I can’t prop up in my bed because my headboard is open and I would fall into the shelf. LOL
My writing office, especially during November, is a local coffee shop with WiFi. I do write at home, on a couch in the living room. That can be very distracting, though. NOW, you have me thinking of a need to set up a writing area. But first…will have to decrapulate.
I’ve tried the coffee shop thing, but the people distract me. And, of course, my husband’s TV watching distracts me if I’m in the living room. I HAD to set up an office to be efficient. And, yes, sometimes you have to decrapulate.
I agree on the whole “a room of our own” issue. I work in the living room a lot, but that only works when hubby’s not around. He likes to have the TV on, and I get way too distracted. I have a lovely writing space in our apartment, but I’m currently using it as a sorting station for what seems like every piece of paper I’ve ever owned, so it’s not usable for writing at the moment. After this round of ROW80, I’m going on an office-cleaning, paper-purging frenzy!
Have a great week! Good luck with your goals. ๐
When I am writing in the living room it’s like this. Type, type, type, type…glances at TV, “ooh, I wonder who the murderer is”.. Type, type, type…”oh, that’s that guy from that show, you know the one”….. LOL. I just can’t keep my eyes away from the TV screen.
I not only have places where I write, but different places for different times of the day, lol. If I’m writing in the morning, it’s the living room. If it’s the evening, it’s the bedroom. Go figure.
Of course, I’ll be moving soon, so that’s just going to throw everything off. Writing is definitely a habitual thing, that’s for sure.
Great job on meeting your goals! I’m excited to join up on RoW80 again!
Everyone’s writing place (or places) is different. Whatever works is what we do, right? Good luck with all the changes in your life!
