It’s been a decent week, I think. I had a good Thanksgiving with great food (if I do say so myself),but most of all, great family times. Unfortunately, my oldest son was sick, so he and his wife couldn’t make it. But we might get to see them next weekend.
So here’s the deal:
Writing: My goal was to finish my WIP by November 30. This has nothing to do with NaNo, it’s just the date I picked for a deadline. I’m happy to say I typed THE END yesterday. I’m not so happy to say that I don’t really like the ending. I kind of let my corny sense of humor get the better of me in the epilogue, and a lot of people probably won’t be amused. I’m going to need a lot of help from my beta readers with it. I’m going to start editing and proofing next week before sending it out to be criticized critiqued. 🙂
Exercise: I was off from work for the holidays starting Wednesday. I didn’t get on the treadmill for three days. Grrr. But I got back on Saturday morning and walked a little extra to make up for some of it. I’ve bumped my speed up a bit. This is a big deal for someone with short legs.
FlyLady: The housekeeping and organization with the FlyLady method is going well. Not perfect, but good enough. Because FlyLady says we have to let go of our perfectionism. 🙂
How about the rest of you? Who did NaNo? Who WON NaNo? Who is glad they didn’t do NaNo? *raises hand* Good luck to everyone this week!
Congratulations on reaching “The End”! I love how you see responses from betas: not criticized, critiqued. LOL
This book took blood, sweat, and tears. LOL. It felt good to finish it. It still needs some work, but I hope I can make it better before it gets to the betas.
great job on writing the end. That’s always a good feeling even though you know it will still need work.
I did NaNo, I won NaNo, and I wrote The End on an 82k word WiP, which was my personal goal. I, too, know it needs more work. But, I can’t fix up what I don’t have.
I think everything’s pretty much okay except the corny ending. LOL
Congrats on winning NaNo! I won two years in a row, but I had a lot more energy back then. 🙂 I can’t believe you got in 82K. That’s just awesome.
I sorta did NaNo, but realized that I wasn’t going to make it and lost interest.
You got the draft done, and that’s what matters. You can always fix the end.
I was a crazy person the two years I did NaNo. I don’t want that kind of stress anymore. That’s why I love ROW80. 🙂
True, it’s DONE. I just need to think about the end and talk to my beta readers. Who knows, I might have an epiphany during my read-through.
I did Nano, but I didn’t work on it as hard as I probably could have — but then, I didn’t really want to work on it that hard. I at least managed 30,000+ words and got five semi-solid chapters. So, color me happy!
30K is a nice number! Congrats!
Big congrats, huge! on finishing the novel. Enjoy a few days away from it before you go back to edit.
Thanks, Emma! I’m going to print it out here at work where we have a laser printer (faster and cheaper). Then I’m going to take it home and sit on it a bit (not literally, LOL). I’ve found that I catch more errors on a printed copy than on the computer. I might start working on it this weekend.
well done on finishing:) – I did nano I won nano butI I was doing it as a rebel in that I was working on an already started book! the thing about nano is the discipline of the month which helped power me through to end – lots of work afterwards yes but as has been said cannot fix whats not there 🙂
all the best for this week:
Congrats on winning NaNo! Sometimes that’s what it takes to jump start a manuscript. Honestly, if I didn’t work a full time job, I might consider doing it again. But my job just takes too much out of me to work that hard after I get home. Someday, I hope I can write for a living. Or maybe as a supplement after I retire. LOL
Good job on typing THE END. I did ‘win’ NaNo, but I’m not finished with the story yet. Busy month ahead with revisions on this and previous projects from earlier in the year.
Hope you have a productive week.
Cheers,
Tonette
Thanks, Tonette! And congrats on winning NaNo. Good luck finishing the story!
I joined NaNo and lost. I probably got a total of 37,000 words but was without Internet for Thanksgiving weekend and only got to put in 20-something thousand. I just got too caught up in setting up the business (but now sales have really dropped and my two latest books haven’t done anything to help like they did in the past which makes me wonder why I formed the business–LOL). But it’s there now so I have to deal with it.
Major congratulations on finishing the book! I look forward to reading it and I won’t complain. *I promise* 😀
You did way better on exercise than me. I’ve hit a plateau and have been on it for almost two months. I’m currently just happy I’m not losing weight but I also know I need to start exercising more to lose again.
I agree on the perfectionist thing but it is soooo hard not to be one. 😀
You may not have won NaNo, but you wrote 37K. That’s progress. I hope your book sales improve. Mine are in the toilet right now. I’m hearing this from a lot of people. And this is typically a bad time of year for sales (at least for me), so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it picks up after Christmas. I’m seriously thinking about doing a Facebook release party for this latest book, but I’m scared no one will come. LOL.
I’m going to do a read through on my book in the next few days, then it will be ready for the betas. Be kind but honest. 🙂
I went to the country club for a Christmas banquet tonight. Because of where we parked, we had to walk up a BUNCH of steps. Enough that the height was scary. And I didn’t get out of breath! I couldn’t believe it! That treadmill is paying off.
Honestly, letting go of that perfectionism has caused me to stress a whole lot less about housework. LOL
