I didn’t post last week because I was on my anniversary trip. Here’s how I’ve done on my goals this past week.
1) Write at least three hours this week. This didn’t happen. However, I started from the beginning and reread my whole WIP, which is about half finished. I added a little scene from my male main character’s point of view. And I’ve done some plotting for the rest of the story. So I’ve been fairly productive.
2) Do at least 15 minutes of housework per day using the FlyLady challenges. Major fail. But I did do a little housework, mostly picking up things from where they don’t belong. I’ve been slowly getting rid of some things. It’s hard to let go of things, thinking I might use them again. But if I haven’t used/worn it in a year, it needs to go away.
3) Get back to my healthy eating habits. I’m actually doing better. I haven’t made any drastic changes…that usually leads to failure. But I’ve gradually worked on eating better. And I’m still walking on the treadmill every day, so that helps.
This week, I’m keeping my friend’s ten-year-old son while she and her husband go on a business trip. This is an interesting experience. My boys are now men, so it brings back fond memories, although this child is a lot different from my sons. It’s going to be a fun week. I’m looking forward to playing games and watching kid’s shows. 🙂 (I’m being serious, not sarcastic.) The biggest problem is he and his parents are late to bed, late to rise. I’m early to bed, early to rise. I woke him up early this morning by making noise walking on the treadmill. I told him he would just have to adjust. LOL
Even though you didn’t nail all of your goals, you still has some real progress. Great job! Enjoy the 10 year old, and have a marvelous week!
Thanks, Julie.
This 10 year old can name all thirty baseball teams and in the order of his favorite to least favorite. I’m lucky to remember my one favorite. LOL
Hey Lauralynn! Happy Late Anniversary! Seems like you did make progress- adding a scene is nothing to sneeze at. Wishing you well with your house guest. Ten is such a good age!
Thanks, Vicki!
It’s been fun having him around. We went to the grocery store last night, and he didn’t ask for a bunch of stuff…just a few things. LOL
Even if you didn’t meet all your goals, it is progress, which is always good. Good luck with this week.
Every little bit of progress helps, I think.
What TV shows are you planning to watch? 🙂
Well, we’ve already watched Scooby-Doo, And The Aristocats. And Mulan (but I fell asleep). I love Netflix Kids.
Sounds great.
🙂
Progress is progress! Rather some than none at all. 🙂 The part I used to find the hardest, was having my nephew over. He goes to sleep at all hours, and although I very rarely go to sleep early, there is a cut off time. At first he used to complain, now he knows that when I say it’s bed time, it’s bed time, lol. I do hope you are having a great time, because a change sometimes shows us new things. 🙂 Have a good week further!
Thanks, Sandra, I agree…progress is progress. And the plotting is a first for me, so I’m happy that’s working.
So far, I haven’t really had any problems. His air mattress that his parents brought is set up in the living room. So he’s on that, I’m lying on the couch, and we fall asleep watching TV. I get up at some point and go to bed. And my cats usually wake him up at least once during the night. LOL
I love cartoons!
Well, we are watching plenty of those, Chris.
It sounds like you’re in for a wonderful week, Lauralynn. When our son’s cousins come to stay, it’s usually one of the best weeks we have. It’s partly because it’s “different”, partly because we relax a little…
All good things on occasion.
Sounds like you’ve been making some great progress too. It’s really (really) hard to let things go sometimes. Don’t fret it–I’m finding that it’s a lot like healthy eating habits–the lasting changes are the slow ones. After all, all that clutter didn’t just happen overnight, did it?)
I’m really enjoying having him around.
You’re right, that clutter didn’t happen overnight. House clutter, body clutter, writing clutter…LOL.
Good to hear that you’re having fun, Lauralynn.
(And as for the clutter, that’s my point–all these quick fixes for cleaning are like fad diets. They often don’t work because the habits that created the initial problem haven’t changed. Take your time. I’m personally trying a “try to get rid of one thing or not take in one thing a day” habit. I’ll let you know if it helps. 😀 )
That is so sweet of you to watch their son. 😀
The hardest part of writing is remembering what you’ve done and figure out where you’re going. I know it doesn’t seem like you did a lot, but you really did. If it helps, I think I wrote all of three days last week.
Small changes to the diet work best for me, too. Oh, I finally got a scale and have lost 9 pounds. I’m not as thin as you. I’m at 213 now, but at least I finally got started after looking for excuses why I had to keep waiting for tomorrow. LOL Cutting out the soda and mochas was hard. I kept going the fridge or walking slowly by Starbucks when I went to the grocery store (they have Starbucks right there), but I did it. Now to eat more fruits and veggies and walk more.
Oh, as for housework…what does this strange word mean? *just kidding* 😀 I do good to pick up things around the house so you got me beat.
The boy is a delight. He’s a little different, but that makes him interesting. He is so well behaved.
I know, it was hard to remember everything I had written, so it was good to read it all again. I saw some other places where I might insert other POVs.
Small changes. I think that’s the key to staying with something. You can really overwhelm yourself if you try to do too much at once. Congrats on losing 9 lbs!
Who knows? You may have his sleeping pattern changed by the time Mom and Dad return. 🙂
Have fun this week . . . and all the best with your goals.
TTFN
Yeah, but Mom and Dad will change the habit right back. LOL
Thanks, Steph!
