Okay, am I just a bloomin’ idiot? NaNo has these great widgets to embed on your site or blog and I can’t seem to figure out how. 😦 I just want the thing on my sidebar. I can put widgets that are already on WordPress on there, but I don’t have a clue how to do the NaNo ones. This is making me very sad. Because I’m smart. But I can’t do this. I wasted way too much time last night trying to figure it out. I kept expecting this light bulb to come on over my head, but alas, the electricity must have been off.

perhaps it’s only a flipped breaker from all the stress on the lines lately. just reset it and you’ll be fine.
I found your answer:
Go to
Appearance > Widgets and add a Text widget.
Paste the code from the nanowrimo.org widgets page
A flipped breaker? Hahahahaha
Anya, I tried that last night and it didn’t work. However, my internet is wonky at home and I had to try several times to even get to NaNo. Maybe it will work better from here.
Yes, what Anya said. Go to your widgets page and drag a text widget over there. Also, the first time I copied and pasted, it made weird things in the widget box and I had to go back and fix the code, the and “”, so look at that too.
Don’t forget to put your Nano user number in place of the number already there.
Then be prepared to refresh a few times and have it not show up because the Nano site has massive fail, which was probably most of your trouble.
Susan, that was my problem to start with. I had actually done exactly what I was supposed to last night. But my internet connection is very slow at home (Verizon card, and I live in the boonies), so it was taking awhile to show up. So I thought it wasn’t working. Even on this faster connection at work, when I first came back to the blog, it took awhile for it to load. I think it’s all related to the NaNo site. Sometimes, I can’t even get on it. I think perhaps their servers can’t handle all the traffic in November.
